A Place for You<br /> <br /> ANY COMPANY-GRADE OFFICERS will be traveling to Milwaukee this August to attend their first NGAUS general conference.<br /> <br /> The conference can be an overwhelming experience, especially for those not used to being shuffled from one event to another. It's a big conference and there's a lot to do.<br /> <br /> Thankfully, many of us have been through this before, so let me offer some friendly advice from one company-grader to another.<br /> <br /> The conference, and the association in general, is all about connecting you with your fellow Guard officers. But you'll not just meet other company-graders, you'll also meet senior leaders.<br /> <br /> You'll also get to see what our association is really all about. Attend the business sessions, take part in the professional development and patrol the trade show, and you'll see that NGAUS is about the future–our future.<br /> <br /> The association is about modernization of antiquated systems and programs. It's about ensuring our soldiers and airmen have the health care that they need and have earned. And it's about affording every Guardsman with the opportunity to compete with the active components with education benefits, such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill.<br /> <br /> During the conference, you'll also get a chance to meet those of us on the NGAUS committee on company- grade issues.<br /> <br /> The committee, which consists of 14 outstanding young officers, brings issues that affect all of us to the attention of the association's board of directors. Each committee member is eager to help NGAUS and its young members navigate through their careers successfully.<br /> <br /> Whether your needs can be met through education, additional knowledge, or problem solving, the committee has the desire to help you.<br /> <br /> If you would like to be involved in the committee, you're in luck, as we will be electing new members during the conference.
